Hashtag Y Market Story

Hashtag Y Market Story

before we started this brand, we never imagined that one day the three of us would be setting up a small stall on the streets of sydney — carrying boxes of products, laying out a tiny tablecloth, and waiting in the morning breeze or under the night lights for the first person who would stop and be willing to hear our story.

running a market stall is a very special experience.

the sunny mornings at glebe market, the 6am setups at kirribilli, and the night breeze at chinatown night market — these places brought us different people, different stories, and quietly shaped our brand along the way.

sometimes the wind is so strong our freshly arranged stickers get blown away;
sometimes the rain comes suddenly, and we rush to cover our products with plastic sheets while pushing our camping cart together — looking like we’re acting in an action movie.
but every time someone stops in front of our stall, all the chaos instantly feels worth it.

our happiest moments are always when:

someone sees our designs for the first time and says,
“this is so cute, i have to get this!”

someone tells us that a fridge magnet reminded them of their first time arriving in australia.

customers come back a second or third time, often bringing friends along —
some even say they found us on social media and made a special trip to see us!

that feeling of being remembered is something online stores could never replace.

setting up market stalls in sydney has taught us the true heart of building a brand:
it’s not just about the products themselves —
it’s about the moment they are seen, liked, and brought into someone’s life.

people often say we work hard — and yes, carrying boxes, setting up tents, standing under the sun, handling cash… especially with just the three of us girls, it’s not easy.
but every “omg this is so cute!” and every “i’m buying this for my friend!” fills us with energy all over again.

we’ll continue appearing at different markets across sydney, sharing our little stories and looking forward to the next time we meet you.

so if you ever spot a small stall with hashtag y on a weekend market,
please come say hi.

maybe the next story begins right there.
